Vintage Canning
This is my section on vintage canning. Here you will find videos related to using vintage canning jars and methods as well as links to old canning manuals and reference materails. Beware a lot of these methods are no longer reccomended for home canning so use them at your own risk! They are great because you can resuse the seals mutiple times and can over and over for no cost. The wire bail seals you can buy, but the no. 10 seals you cannot get new, but I get old stock ones on e-Bay that are still good and use them over and over. You can watter bath or pressure can with these old jars.
Here is a copy of an old ball blue book from 1934. This has information on how to use the older jars and some different recipes. I normally follow the updated processing times if they are longer than they are in this book. It is interesting to read, but keep in mind... WE HAVE LEARNED A LOT SINCE 1934... AND THERE ARE NEW BACTERIA THESE DAYS!!!
Here is a copy of an USDA Cannig Guide from 1965. I normally follow the updated processing times if they are longer than they are in this guide, but remember... WE HAVE LEARNED A LOT SINCE 1965... AND THERE ARE NEW BACTERIA THESE DAYS!!!

Here is a Link on Amazon. If you are just getting one pack of them Amazon is good, and it will be about the same price with free shipping as All American will be with shipping. If you are getting more than 1 pack, I would use All American in the link above.
